Overzicht:
Ik ben meestal niet verleiden door zakhorloges, maar onlangs pakte ik een modern horloge voor mijn jongere broer, dus mijn interesse was gewekt. Dus, op mijn laatste bezoek aan mijn lokale antiekwinkel, keek ik door de vintage bin. Toen ik opende dit kleine schoonheid van een horloge, ik was verbaasd over de aandoening. Ik ben er niet zeker van de exacte leeftijd, maar is het Swiss Made, Valgine, 17 juwelen, Incabloc, en de wijzerplaat is gewoon onberispelijk.


De voorkant van het horloge heeft een charmante visser graveren en is in zeer goede staat. Het is geen slijtage door middel zichtbaar op de beplating en de embossing is diep en van hoge kwaliteit. Het voorpaneel gaat open perfect wanneer de hanger wordt ingedrukt. Als dit horloge is gebruikt, ik denk niet dat was een dagelijkse slijtage horloge. De binnenkant van het deksel van de voorste wijzerplaat heeft een goed uitgevoerd hulpmiddel patroon, een echte, niet de gestempelde versies gezien in de moderne, goedkope zakhorloges. De wijzerplaat is zuiver wit met zwarte Romeinse cijfers markers voor 1 tot en met 12 en kleine, rode, Arabisch markers voor 13 tot 24 uur. De handen zijn zeer elegant en vakkundig geknipt. De secondewijzer is op de 6 uur positie. Het kristal lijkt acryl te zijn en heeft geen krassen op alle.

De achterzijde van het horloge heeft een bloemmotief en wordt vakkundig gegraveerd ook. Nogmaals, er is geen slijtage door op de beplating die zichtbaar is zonder loupe een juwelier.

Het horloge kwam ook op een mooie kwaliteit ketting en traditionele fob, niet een riemclip. Een beetje dandy, maar ik ben ervan overtuigd dat in een pak, kunt u het af te trekken. Het horloge is ongeveer 44mm in diameter, dus niet al te groot, en kleiner dan wat een heleboel mensen dragen op hun polsen nu!
De beweging is een 17 juweel, Swiss made uurwerk, shock beschermd, 18.000 BPH, en houdt uitstekende tijd. De gangreserve lijkt goed, meer dan 32 uur. Ik denk dat het horloge is gemaakt in de jaren 60, door hoe weinig slijtage er is. Ik denk niet dat ik zal het veel te dragen, maar ik ben nog steeds blij dat ik dit horloge verworven. Ik ben niet in staat om veel te weten komen over dit merk, ik neem aan dat ze waren een van de duizenden bedrijven weggevaagd in de quartz revolutie.

Divers-ity

As one of my previous posts recently showed, there are many choices when it comes to “Divers” models, especially when considering major brands. There are also other models from Casio, Invicta and Momentum to name just a few. There are also others that advertise as Divers, but for me I only consider “dive rated” models at 200m or better. Plus basic features such as good dial legibility under water, large hands and numerals, good luminous qualities, a screw down crown and a uni-directional bezel.
I highlight here some that caught my attention, starting with the classic Seiko “Monster” Divers SKX781K, Automatic in Orange and black versions – one that I particularly like.

Seiko “Monster” Divers

This is an absolute classic Divers watch and very popular with good reason. Solid chunky watch in Stainless Steel watch with high visibility dial and contrasting hands and markers, rated at 200m Water Resistance and with a large uni-directional bezel that is a delight to use. The bezel markings are sharp and clear with the conventional 15, 30 and 45 minute graduations in large high contrast figuring with a luminous dot marker at Zero. The orange dial also features a Day and Date in a nicely outlined window @3 again with good contrast luminous figures and large enough not to require any magnifier bubble. The luminous system used is Seiko Lumibrite, which for me has one of the best luminous properties of any (I don't include Tritium light source technology). The large screw down crown is very well protected by the projecting case profile on one side and the cleverly extended solid case lug on the other. The mechanical automatic movement is the dependable 7S26 which has reasonable accuracy at around +/- 25 secs/day – not quite in the quartz bracket, but good for a mechanical model. The crystal is the Seiko in-house “Hardlex” which is a good combination of scratch and shatter resistance.

These models are available from around $120 to $160 depending on discounts etc. and represent superb value when you consider these are from a major Manufacturer with good guarantees and service back up.
I have not included Citizen this time as featured some in the previous post on Divers, so this time I'm looking at other brands that offer a similar capability, such as Momentum from the St Moritz Watch Company of Canada. They have quite a neat range of 200m Water Resistance “Divers”, though I find it difficult to know what's current and what's discontinued. Of several Diver models I have opted for and particularly like the Shadow 11 model (IM-DV86B0), which is a good sized black IP coated stainless steel version at 41mm x 12mm case size. It has a quartz movement with Day/Date window @3, luminous hands and markers with a second hand with arrow tip. The uni-directional bezel is well defined, though as others in the Brand, they use slightly unconventional 20, 30, 40 and 50 minute markers (another model uses, 5, 15, 25, 35, 45 and 55, which I find confusing). There is also an offset semi-protected screw down crown.

Momentum Shadow 11

This model version has black IP 316L steel case and bracelet, though my next featured watch has the more usual stainless finish. The Momentum Storm 11 model, which I find more compact looking in case a dial set up, perhaps as I'm more used to the Seiko and Citizen models, but certainly worth considering.

The dial on both models appear quite Seiko looking with the round markers and so on which I find very pleasing. The prices of both watches seem to be in the same bracket as the more popular models and certainly shows there are no shortage of models in this Divers category.
Another brand at the low end of this price bracket is the Invicta Watch Group, a US Company trading on the original Swiss Invicta Watch Company name since 1991 and they feature a few Diver category models in their range.

Invicta Pro Diver 8926 Automatic

A more Rolex Submariner looking watch you're unlikely to see, which can be got for around $80 or £65+ in the UK (may be subject to VAT and customs here in the UK). Good looking 200m Water Resistance model with uni-directional 120 click bezel with good markings and that luminous Dot at Zero. It uses a Miyota 21j automatic mechanical movement and has a mineral crystal. The movement from memory does not have the best power reserve, so unless you are pretty active it could be an issue. The later model 9937 the features a 23j movement, where the power reserve is improved, a sapphire crystal and better magnifier date window. Though the date is actually OK for me on this model. A screw down protected crown @3 and watch dimensions are 40 x 12mm, so is a really neat sized Divers watch which will suit the smaller wrist. Rolex style dial with luminous hands and markers, plus center sweep seconds hand, sets off a rather handsome watch.
As long as you don't expect Rolex quality, this watch should manage quite well, but time will tell in the long run.
So a few more Divers to consider and I hope to have a more in depth look at the Seiko “Monster” and the Citizen BN models in the near future, which should be fun as I'm hoping to replace some of my older Divers and move them on.

Everything that happened at Baselworld 2015 – Part III

Hamilton Pays Tribute to Elvis Presley
Along other interesting watches released at Baseworld 2015, Hamilton prepared a surprise watch meant to honor the King of Rock and Roll. The exquisite Hamilton Ventura Elvis 80 celebrates the star's 80th birthday, who was a big fan of this brand.
The king, who's 80th birthday would have been on January the 8th this year, is known to made the brand famous by wearing a Hamilton Ventura timepiece in the film Blue Hawaii, in 1961, at 4 years after it was released. This way the model has quickly become the “Elvis watch”, introduced to the world as the first electric watchwrist, having the unusual feature of a triangle shape.

Another watch presented at baselworld 2015 by Hamilton is the Chrono Worldtimer, with a big stainless steel case (45 mm), coming on a steel or rubber bracelet. When asked about price, the brand affirmed it starts from $1,245 going up to $1,295.

Glashütte presents two updates
We are talking about the Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar, which was available until now with a white or anthracite dial, and the Glashütte Original PanoReserve. The new versions exhibited at the show are designed in an interesting combination of colors:
- Glashütte Original PanoMaticLunar is of a deep matte black, having a case in a gold-rose tone;
- Glashütte Original PanoReserve has a dark tone of blue, very close to indigo and is embraced by a powerful stainless steel case.

Glashütte explained that there are more than 40 operations involved in order to create and finish a dial alone, and that they are made in an original Glashütte factory situated in Pforzheim, Germany.
They both have automatic movements, the PanoMatic Lunar having a Glashütte Original's Caliber 90-02 on 28,800vph with 47 jewels, while the other runs on Caliber 65-01, a manually wound 4-Hz movement with 48 jewels. The rotor is skeletonized of the PanoMatic watch has the GO logo and is made of 21-karat gold.

They both have a 42 hour reserve and a 40 mm diameter. The first is 12.7 mm thick, while the PanoReserve 11.7 mm. They are both water resistant at 50 meters.
PanoLunar is available in a blue alligator or a blue calfskin strap or a stainless steel bracelet. The PanoReserve also has these options for the strap, but the black and gold edition has 2 different alligator bracelets.

Deze coppertone babes zijn zijn echt een van de betere prijs-kwaliteitverhouding aanbod Ik ben erin geslaagd om de laatste tijd te krijgen. Voor patina freaks, is dit een must-have. Ze ouder erg snel. Wat ook trok me aan hen zijn de grote afwerking en betrouwbare beweging. Het is geen verrassing dus dat deze horloges zijn vaak vooraf worden besteld door de klanten in Gnomon Horloges en verlaat de winkel zodra ze aankomen.

Van de drie varianten mijn favorieten zijn duidelijk - groen, bruin, zwart en vervolgens in deze volgorde. Als ze ooit een zwarte wijzerplaat editie met rose gouden behuizing te maken, zou ik klauteren aan het hoofd van de lijn. Ik denk dat de zwarte en de bruine ziet er echt fantastisch in een roze gouden kast. Haar, de heer Tschopp, ik hoop dat je begrijpt wat ik bedoel.

Figuur 1 hierboven toont ons de visuele en numerieke specificatie voor de Algemene Dienst uurwerk van de late jaren 1960. Wat we zien is natuurlijk de inmiddels klassieke buitenste spoor (dat was interessant niet gespecificeerd voor horloges van de periode van een aantal navigators ') samen met de Arabische cijfers, die een lange weg waren kort van de vrijmoedigheid en de grootte van later General Service uurwerken zoals kwarts CWC.

Smiths interpretatie van de wijzerplaat voor de 1966-1970 horloge was, zoals ik al eerder bijzonder aantrekkelijk in termen van het lettertype dat ze aangenomen en onze 2010 PRS-29s hebben dezelfde gebruikt hebben verklaard,. In de eerste plaats echter, heeft de buitenste baan is zeer goed toegepast in hoogglans wit, printen is zelfs zonder pauzes; de lichtende punten, wapenstokken en driehoek zijn allemaal gedimensioneerd en op een afstand nauwkeurig. Het lichtgevende materiaal is Super LumiNova C3, dik en gelijkmatig aangebracht. Welk lettertype is het beroep van de PRS-29 ziet er net zoals het hoort, zonder twijfel een factor om het effect van het horloge op mij toen ik voor het eerst zag. Eveneens de branding 'Smiths', net zoals het zou moeten zijn - ook gedrukt in hoogglans wit, discreet en kijkt net als het origineel. Het is echt een geweldige ervaring om te zien de Smiths naam opnieuw optuigen van een nieuw horloge. Eén aspect van de wijzerplaat die uitstelt tot de 21e eeuw is natuurlijk het Circle L 'in tegenstelling tot de "Cirkel" in de driehoek 12. Bij de nieuwe Dit verwijst naar het gebruik van (Super) Luminova voor doeleinden lichtgevende tegenover Tritium voor het origineel. De meeste originelen zijn nu lijden aan kruip van het Tritium verbinding - stippen zijn niet meer rond, wapenstokken niet rechthoekig en ga zo maar door. Natuurlijk is voor verzamelaars van de originelen dan is dit te verwachten en fijn; Het is echter vrij heerlijk om 'Smiths' hieronder een perfect gevormde lichtgevende driehoek te zien.
